What to know before you cut
- These are plans, not certified products. Sand every edge, seal and finish the piece, and check that it suits your pet.
- For an outdoor house, use marine or phenolic plywood and seal every edge: MDF and particleboard swell with the first rain.
- Raise the house off the ground so it does not pick up moisture.
- Let the finish air out for a couple of days before your pet uses it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I size the door of the house?
The width of the chest plus a few fingers, and about three quarters of the height at the shoulder. For a cat, about 6 1/4" wide and 8" high (160 by 200 mm).
How high should the feeder be?
The height of the pet's chest, so that it eats standing without bending its neck.
Can I make the feeder and the bed separately?
Yes. Select the feeder, the bed or both in the measurements.
Is the finish safe for pets?
Choose a finish that is safe for animals and let it air out before use. Check the label of the product you use.
