What to know before you cut
- These are plans, not certified products. Sand every edge until it is not sharp, round the corners and use a toy-safe finish.
- Fix tall or narrow pieces, like the bookshelf, to the wall: a child can pull on them.
- The learning tower platform moves up as the child grows. If you will change its height, screw it instead of gluing it.
- Check the measurements with the child seated: feet flat on the floor and forearms resting without raising the shoulders.
Frequently asked questions
Are these plans safe for children?
The designs round the corners and keep the bed low, but safety also depends on the material, the build and the finish. Sand every edge, use a toy-safe finish, anchor tall pieces and check the size against your child.
What mattress size does the bed take?
Any size you set. The bed leaves 3/8" (10 mm) of clearance on each side of the mattress.
Can the learning tower change height?
Yes. Choose how many platform heights you want: the mortises are cut for all of them.
Why use plywood for kids furniture?
Birch plywood or similar is stable and takes sanding and finish well. Avoid MDF where the piece takes stress.
