Questions
Is it strong enough to carry things?
Yes, if you glue every joint. Use wood glue on all the teeth and hold the tray with tape or rubber bands until it dries.
What material and thickness should I use?
Use 1/8" (3 mm) birch plywood, basswood plywood or MDF. Measure the real thickness with calipers and enter it under Material, laser and sheet, because the joints are calculated from it.
Do I need to set the kerf?
Yes, once. Cut a 3/4" (20 mm) square, measure it and enter the difference as your kerf. The joints are compensated, so the parts press-fit. The default suits most CO2 lasers.
