Questions
What material should I use?
For outdoor use, marine plywood or treated wood, with exterior glue. Line the inside with drainage sheet or geotextile and apply exterior stain or oil on the outside.
How deep should the box be?
For vegetables, about 10 to 12 inches (250 to 300 mm) of soil. The summary shows the volume of soil it holds.
What about long planters?
Over about 4 feet the soil pushes on the front and back: add a screw in each tenon or a tie rod inside.
Which software opens the DXF?
Any CAM program that reads DXF, such as VCarve, Aspire, Fusion, Alphacam or Mach-compatible tools. Outside cuts, inside cuts and dog-bones are on separate layers, and the files are generated at real size.
